After the move from Indiana to New York in addition to generally overdoing it and incurring some pretty substantial physical injuries as a result, it gave me some great material to write about so after six months I finally got around to digging my recording gear out of the storage locker and laying down a couple of ideas. I also wanted to record a song with minimal overdubbing to capture how the song would sound when I played it live in a 3-piece. Other than the rhythm track, this is pure and raw.... The song is called “Shufflin’ in E”. I wrote it after watching a documentary on ZZ Top where they stated that all their songs are basically “shuffles”. They also said that “shuffles” aren’t really songs but song structures. The more I thought about it, the more I felt writing a song about the “shuffle” was long overdue so here’s my take on it…I hope you enjoy!
